Autumn View Gardens Scores Big With First Annual Kickball Game
At Autumn View Gardens, we work hard to provide an active lifestyle for our residents and at our communities in Ellisville and Creve Coeur, Missouri, we took “active” to a whole new level with our first annual multigenerational kickball game.
On a Friday afternoon last month, a crowd of team members, their families and residents assembled at nearby Vago Park for an enjoyable afternoon game.
“The two communities are only about 20 minutes apart,” said Ashley Wheeler, executive director at Creve Coeur. “Because we’re so close, we’re able to share resources and ideas, and we also have a little friendly rivalry in terms of who has the most active lifestyle and community events.”
“This game started out as a simple team-building exercise for the staff of our two Autumn View Gardens communities,” explained Marty Schenk, executive director at Ellisville. “We thought it would be fun to organize a game and invite family members and our residents out for a nice day at one of our local parks.”
A kickball game seemed like a great activity for both communities, which are located outside St. Louis. The competition began with team members from each community playing each other, with family and residents watching. But by mid-afternoon, residents and children had joined in for a truly multigenerational game.
In the end, Ellisville got the win, but Creve Coeur is looking forward to competing again next year in hopes of bringing home the trophy!
In the mean time, team members at both Ellisville and Creve Coeur are already brainstorming the next fun—and active—event.
